Cillessen in contention for return against Sevilla
Jasper Cillessen missed out on Valencia CF's trip to Pamplona this past weekend, withdrawn from the squad on the morning of the game due to illness. The Dutchman is eyeing a return to action in the midweek fixture against Sevilla FC, however, and has previously put in some great performances against the team from southern Spain.

Two seasons ago, he played his first game against Sevilla, on April 21st, 2018. He did so for former club FC Barcelona in the Copa del Rey, in a match that they would win 0-5 away from home.
Cillessen would lift the cup that year, and the next season would meet Sevilla again in the competition. After a 2-0 loss at the Sánchez Pizjuán, Barça fought back in the second leg to win 6-1 and go through to the next round, in a tournament eventually won by Valencia CF. In the second match, the Dutch goalkeeper saved a penalty from Roque Mesa and denied André Silva with an excellent save from open play.

The shotstopper has been the most frequently featured goalkeeper for Valencia CF this season, but Albert Celades will have to choose between him and Jaume Domenech for Wednesday's 7pm kickoff at Mestalla.
